Xpujil Ruins, Campache, Mexico:

Xpujil means Place of the Cattails in Maya. It was named by the members of the fourth Carnegie Expedition to Campeche, in 1938. It is a A small site that flourished between 400 B.C. and 1100 A.D. Some archaeologists think that Xpujil was a subordinate community of the larger site at Becán. In fact you can see Xpujil from Becan and you could walk between the two sites if you were so inclined. Becán is East of Xpujil. We do not recommend walking there.

We found Structure 1 of Group 1 at Xpujil to be a beautiful example of the Rio Bec style.

We found the South Tower to be very interesting. It contains a stairway that leads up to the top of the tower to a room with a window that faces to the West.
