Vermilion Cliffs Arizona

After the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, the Saints were led from Nauvoo to the site of modern day Salt Lake City. In about 1861 Brigham Young sent members of the LDS churh into Southern Utah and Northern Arizona to colonize the area. There are beautiful cliffs in both Southern Utah and Northern Arizona that are known as the Vermilion Cliffs. The Cliffs on this page are in Arizona.

You can turn off highway 89A at the Navajo Bridge and visit Lee's Ferry Crossing. Keep on highway 89A further west and you will be in Jacob's Lake near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Or go on further to the north and west and you can visit Pipe Springs, or Kanab, or maybe St. George. This entire area was of importance to the LDS people.

Be sure to visit our Lee's Ferry Crossing Page! This page contains a sample of the best digital photos and pictures that we have taken of the Vermilion Cliffs along highway 89A in Arizona.
