The Holiday Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez Hotel is located close to many local attractions such as the Canon del Sumidero, Chiapa de Corzo, Garden Botanical, Zoo, Regional museum and the Cathedral of San Marcos. The hotel offers 117 bedrooms, which are equipped with many modern amenities. Non smoking rooms are also available. It facilities include a gym, basketball court, baby-sitting, bar, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and a restaurant that serves International cuisine. There are also 5 meeting rooms available for the business traveller where the smallest meeting room can accommodate 20 persons and the largest 1000 persons. In contrast to the rest of Chiapas, it is a modern, bustling city growing very quickly. Tuxtla Gutierrez became the State Capital in 1892. In our opinion this hotel is the very best value for the dollar in Tuxtla Guiterrez. Book ahead of time since this hotel fills up fast and it is usually not possible to just walk in and get a room without reservations. The hotel has a very nice resturant and they are located across the street from Vips. Vips is owned by WalMart and is a chain of resturants which are good safe places to eat when traveling throughout Mexico. The hotel is also located very close to the main road in and out of town. We were there January 30 through January 31 of 2004. The Angel Albino Corzo International Airport (IATA: TGZ, ICAO: MMTG) is a new international airport located at the Mexican municipality of Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas. It currently only operates as a Domestic airport (it does not have a Customs or Immigration office). It handles air traffic for the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez and central Chiapas. We highly recommend this hotel when you are visiting any of the following ruins and attractions in the Tuxtla Gutierrez area. . We would recommend flying into Tuxtla Gutierrez, staying at the hotel and then letting them arrange either a car or a tour of Tuxtla Gutierrez. If you call their Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you. We hire the driver for the day and it is the safest and least expensive method we have found over our many years of traveling in Mexico. Since you can fly into Tuxtla Gutierrez from other airports in Mexico, we have a link to Priceline on this page where you can arrange your flight as well as your hotel. Some people prefer to fly into Mexico City first.
