Tuxtla Gutierrez ("Toox-tlah Goo-Tee-Eh-Rehs") is the capital city of the State of Chiapas. In contrast to the rest of Chiapas, it is a modern, bustling city growing very quickly. Tuxtla Gutierrez became the State Capital in 1892.

The Angel Albino Corzo International Airport (IATA: TGZ, ICAO: MMTG) is a new international airport located at the Mexican municipality of Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas. It currently only operates as a Domestic airport (it does not have a Customs or Immigration office). It handles air traffic for the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez and central Chiapas.
