Bigflower Coreopsis
Coreopsis grandiflora, Aster or Sunflower Family also known as the Composite Family: ( Compositae ), Tickseed: Also called; Tickseed, Largeflowered Tickseed, Tickseed Coreopsis Coreopsis grandiflora 'Early Sunrise'.
Coreopsis grandiflora is a very showy, upright, clump-forming perennial. It grows about 20" - 30" tall with a similar spread.
It has simple and lance-shaped leaves up to about 4 inches long.
The 'Sunray' variety has dark yellow, double flowerheads, up to about 2 1/2" across, consisting of ray florets with uneven cut margins, and orange yellow disk florets.
Tickseed is very attractive to bees, and makes an excelllent cut flower. It is native to central and southeastern U.S.
Height: Up to 20 - 30" tall with similar spread.
Flowers: Yellow, flower heads appear at the ends of 12 - 18 inch light green stems. Flowers are double flowerheads, up to 2 1/2" across, consisting of ray florets with uneven cut margins, and orangish-yellow disk florets..
Blooming Time: March - May. Sometimes all summer.
Leaves: Simple and lance-shaped, to 4 inches long.
Found: Native to central and southeastern U.S.
Elevation: 0 - 5,000 Feet.
Habitat: Original plant from desert gravelly slopes, creosote bush scrub, joshua tree woodland, pinyon-juniper woodland. This is hybrid.
