Wright's Thimblehead Hymenothrix wrightii is a biennial, perennial herb up to 3 1/2 feet tall. Its 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide flower heads contain white or purple-tinged bracts. Their lobes are linear, and spreading Its anthers are about 1/16 inch thick and a dark red to purple in color. Wright's Thimblehead's basal green leaves are alternate and dissected into narrow lobes. Its lower leaves are usually larger and more numerous.
Height: Up to 3 1/2 feet tall. Each plant spreads up to 18 inches wide.
