Hymenothrix wrightii, Sunflower Family: ( Asteraceae ) , Wright's Thimblehead.

Hymenothrix wrightii is a biennial, perennial herb up to 3 1/2 feet tall. Its 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide flower heads contain white or purple-tinged bracts. Their lobes are linear, and spreading Its anthers are about 1/16 inch thick and a dark red to purple in color.

Wright's Thimblehead's basal green leaves are alternate and dissected into narrow lobes. Its lower leaves are usually larger and more numerous.

Height: Up to 3 1/2 feet tall. Each plant spreads up to 18 inches wide.
Flowers: White 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide flower heads contain white or purple-tinged bracts.
Blooming Time: Late June - October in Yarnell, Arizona.
Leaves: Basal and cauline, alternate, green leaves about 2 - 4 inches long and about 1/16 to 1/8 inches wide.
Found: Found Continental USA. Also a native of Arizona.
Elevation: 4,000 - 8,500 feet.
Habitat: Desert soil, rock, does well in loose soil on slopes.
