Taquile Island is the home to skilled weavers and a place where travelers can buy wellmade woolen and alpaca goods. The residents of this island run their own tourism operations. There are no hotels on Taquile but the islanders open their homes to tourists interested in staying overnight . If you are interested in buying souveriers this is an interesting place. However, it is about three hours by boat to visit this island. If you are rushed for time, we would recommend bypassing this tour. It is called Huilanopampa on the Google Map. We visited this island on April 20, 2006 at about 11:30 AM.
