Pomegranate
Punica granatum, Lythraceae Family: ( Lythraceae ) , Pomegranate. Also Called: Granate Apple 'O'odham', or 'O'odham' Pomegranate.

Pomegranate's are rounded, deciduous shrubs or small trees that grow to an average of 12 to 16 feet in height, although some dwarf varieties do exist.

Height: 12 to 16 feet tall, spread 3 to 8 feet. Some dwarf varieties do exist.
Flowers: A trumpet shaped bright red, 3/4 inch in diameter, 1 - 1 1/2 inch long, with five petals .
Blooming Time: Late March to May.
Leaves: Leaves opposite or sub-opposite, glossy, narrow oblong, entire, 1 - 2 inches long and 3/4 inch broad.
Fruit: A round, hexagon shape, 3 to 6 inches in diameter, with a thick reddish skin and many seeds. Edible. October. Found: Tecoma stans var. angustata is a shrub native from Texas and New Mexico. Tecoma stans var stans is a small tropical tree that reaches about 25 feet in height and comes from Mexico, and Central America.
Elevation: 0 to 2,400 Feet.
Habitat: Desert alkaline soil. Good Xeriscape landscaping plant. It originated in Southern Asia and was cultivated from India to the Mediterranean during ancient times.
