Scalloped Leaf Phacelia
Phacelia crenulata, Waterleaf Family ( Hydrophyllaceae ), Scalloped Leaf Phacelia. Also called Scorpionweed, Common phacelia, Caterpiller Weed, and Scalloped phacelia.

Annual. Thirty eight species of Phacelia in Arizona.

Height: Up To About 18 Inches Tall.
Flowers: Flowers violet-purple, bell-shaped with 5 rounded lobes to 1/4" wide. The flowerhead is finely haired, with terminal coils.
Blooming Time: Mid February - May.
Leaves: Leaves simple, lobed, dark green, to 5" long. Stems sticky. When crushed, folliage has strong, onion-like smell.
Found: Arizona and California.
Elevation: 0 - 4000 Feet.
Habitat: Phacelia's habitat is the desert environs, where it occupies open, sandy washes to rocky flats, bajadas, roadsides, and playas.
