Moss Rose
Portulaca grandiflora, Purslane Family: ( Portulacaceae ), Moss Rose: Also called; Rose Moss, Sun Plant, Portulaca.

Moss rose is a beautiful, bright colored, prostrate, multi-branched annual, with semisucculent stems and leaves, that blooms all summer long in bright colors such as rose pink, red, yellow, white, and orange; with little or no care required. The flowers open only during bright sunlight, they close at night and on cloudy days.

Height: Up To 6 inches tall and 12 inches wide.
Flowers: Roselike about an inch across and in bright colors; rose pink, red, yellow, white, and orange.
Blooming Time: April to October.
Leaves: Cylindrical, about an inch long, and pointed on the tips.
Found: Native to the hot, dry plains of southern Brazil, Uruguay and northern Argentina.
Elevation: 0 - 2,800 Feet.
Habitat: Well drained sandy desert soils, hot, sunny areas.
Miscellaneous: Flowering Photos Taken . Great xeriscape plant.
