Miniature Wool Star
Eriastrum diffusum, Phlox Family ( Polemoniaceae ), Miniature Wool Star. Also called: Miniature Woollystar or Miniature Woolstar.

Herb, Annual. There are two species of Eriastrum in Arizona.

Height: Up To About 8 Inches Tall.
Flowers: Pale blue in color. The tubular flowers are up to 1/2 inch long and have 5 lobes and yellow centers. They are in terminal clusters in woolly, spiky heads.
Blooming Time: Mid March - May.
Leaves: Shiny, gray - green leaves are are linear and narrow with sharply pointed tips and wool in the leaf axils.
Found: Found in Arizona and California .
Elevation: 0 - 5500 Feet.
Habitat: Miniature Wool Star's habitat is the desert environs, where it occupies open, sandy to rocky flats, bajadas, and playas .
