Giza Sphinx & Pyramids Page 4 Menkaure (Mycerinus)
The Pyramid Of Menkaure is the smaller of the three. It is beautifully constructed and distinguished by its red granite lower courses and well preserved underground chambers. A stone sarcophagus was found in the pyramid and sent to England. It was lost off of the coast of Spain when the ship and its cargo went down in the 19th century. Tradition says that the pyramid was built by the last 6th Dynasty queen Nitocris. It is beleived that the pyramid is haunted by a beautiful naked woman ghost who is trying to lure the innocent men who visit the pyramid. Perhaps it is queen Nitocris herself! George Looked all over the pyramid for queen Nitocris, but alas, she did not appear!
