Flowers: Red - Purple to Light Pink - Purple. Pea-like flowers about 1/4 inch long in very elongated clusters. The banner petal has a red - spotted yellow and white banner spot that becomes magenta with age. Produced 20–50 or more on a tall spike.
Blooming Time: March - May.
Leaves: Green, hairy, and palmately compound with 6–10 leaflets, each leaflet 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches long and 1/4 to 1/2 inches broad, on a 1/2 to 3 inch long petiole.
Found: Mojave Desert of California and Arizona.
Elevation: 0 - 3,800 Feet.
Habitat: Disturbed soil, roadways, sandy or gravelly areas.
