LUCERNE: The medieval old town with its picturesque squares and towers of Lucerne is easily accessible due to its central location. It is a car free zone and small enough that you can explore it by foot. Visit the Swiss Transport Museum, wonder at the "Kapellbrücke," the famous covered Kapell bridge across the river Reuss, board a steamboat from the dock and explore Lake Lucerne Or you could take one of the mountain railways that take you high up to one of the pre-alpine summits such as the Pilatus, the Rigi and the Stanserhorn mountains Or visit the Culture and Congress Center. Lucerne is a place which offers something for everyone. We were there in August of 1999.

Getting to Lucerne, Switzerland: The Zürich Airport (IATA: ZRH, ICAO: LSZH) also called the Kloten Airport, is located in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland and it is managed by Unique Airport. It is Switzerland's largest international flight gateway and hub to the Swiss International Air Lines. There is a direct train every hour from the Zurich airport to Lucerne. Duration: 1hour. There are numerous flights into Zürich and numerous hotels in Zürich and the Lucerne area. There are several Guided Tour Agencies offering standard city, and historical tours of Zürich and the surrounding area. After arranging your flight we would suggest getting your hotel and then letting them arrange tours of the area for you. If you call the hotels Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you. We do this all the time. It is safe and it works!!! We have never experienced a problem doing it this way!
