LA VENTA, Structure C - 1. This page consists of a series of pictures taken of Structure C - 1, the Pyramid at La Venta that some researchers think may be shaped like a volcano. The photos were taken on January 27, 2004. Several photos show the surrounding landscape of La Venta. You may notice that the town has grown up to the ruins itself and the rivers and lakes no longer are filled with water as they were when the Olmecs lived in the area. Some of the monuments and structures that are on the site are fiberglass reproductions of the originals which have been moved to various museums for protection from the elements which would wear away the carvings on the artifacts.
