Mexican Honeysuckle
Justicia candicans, Acanthus Family: ( Acanthaceae ), Mexican Honeysuckle. Also called: Orange Plume Flower.

This is a very popular landscaping plant in arizona and it is considered a deciduous shrub.

It is deciduous shrub up to about 4 feet in height, gray-green succulent plant, with tubular orange flowers, native to Mexico and South America.

Hummingbirds are attracted to them.

Height: Evergreen bush slowly growing to about 3 -4 feet tall and 4 - 6 feet wide.
Flowers: The flowers are bright orange, tubular, to about 11/2 inches long.
Blooming Time: Mid February - November.
Leaves: The leaves are bright, ovate, velvety pubescent, and up to 3 inches long.
Elevation: 0 - 2500 Feet.
Habitat: Alkaline, well-drained/light soils. An ideal landscape plant in Arizona. Native of Mexico and South America.
