Jacaranda mimosaefolia, Family Bignoniaceae ( Leguminosae ) ( Fabaceae ), Jacaranda Tree.

Ornamental Tree. Height to about 45 feet. Deciduous to semi-evergreen, one of the most beautiful flowering trees grown in Arizona. Will grow in most soils. Likes a hot, sunny & sheltered position. Susceptible to frosts.

Native of Brazil. Quick growing; short lived. Oblong; Open branched, fruit is flat, disc-like contains numerous papery winged seeds. Feathery leaves and blue colour flowers are added attraction.

Height: Height to about 45 feet.
Flowers: Tubularor trumpet shaped, lavender blue, flowers, about 2 inches long, in long clusters of about 8 to 12 inches.
Blooming Time: May to June.
Leaves: Feather like leaves.
Seed Pod: Brown, flat, disc-like contains numerous papery winged seeds.
Elevation: 0 - 2000 Feet.
Habitat: Landscape Plant.
