| The largest pyramid is Khufu (Cheops in Greek) or The Great Pyramid. It measures 755 feet square at its base and its present height is 449 feet. Over the years it has lost 33 feet of its original height. Its volume is about 88 million cubic feet. Its original entrance was on the north side and its corridors were aligned with the circumpolar stars to insure the Pharaohs immortality. Its present entrance, lower than the original, is linked to a passageway to the "real" access corridor. |
