Height: Evergreen shrub or tree. slowly growing to about 12 - 15 feet tall and equal width.
Flowers: The flowers are dioecious; small, yellow - green, lacking petals, About 1/4 inch. The male and female flowers are generally on different trees. They bloom in the spring and fall..
Fruit: A 3 - sided pod containing 3 seeds. The pod is green aging to pink to tan; with flat papery wings. The fruits have been used as a substitute for hops.
Blooming Time: Mid March - May then August - October.
Leaves: The leaves are dark green, narrow, lanceolate, alternate with a tapered base; the top is glossy and the underside is lighter. 1 to 4 inches long, about 3/4 inch wide
Found: Found throughout Arizona.
