Mock Pennyroyal Hedeoma oblongifolium, Mint Family ( Lamiaceae ), Mock Pennyroyal. Also called . An annual, dicot, herb; with numerous erect branches. Arizona Pennyroyal is a sub - species member of the mint family known by the common name of Pennyroyal. Hedeoma contains a pungent oil said to be a repellent to insects, especially to fleas. Pennyroyal is a native of most parts of Europe and parts of Asia. It was highly prized for it's medicinal uses. We do not recommend using this plant as a medicine. Height: Height to about 12 - 20 inches. Flowers: The plant has small bluish or rose purplish flowers in the leaf axils. They have a white throat with purplish stripes. Blooming Time: March - September. Leaves: Small bright green, oval, opposite, stalked leaves about half-inch long. Elevation: 1,800 - 8,000 Feet. Habitat: Desert Washes, Streams, Woodlands.
