Arizona Pennyroyal
Hedeoma hyssopifolium, Mint Family ( Lamiaceae ), Arizona Pennyroyal. Also called Mock Pennyroyal.

An annual, dicot, herb; with numerous erect branches. Arizona Pennyroyal is a sub - species member of the mint family known by the common name of Pennyroyal.

Hedeoma contains a pungent oil said to be a repellent to insects, especially to fleas.

Pennyroyal is a native of most parts of Europe and parts of Asia. It was highly prized for it's medicinal uses. We do not recommend using this plant as a medicine.

The bottom photos of the flowers are taken from plants located about 20 feet apart. They have a noticably different color.

Height: Height to about 12 - 20 inches.
Flowers: The plant has small bluish or purplish flowers in the leaf axils.
Blooming Time: May - June.
Leaves: Small opposite stalked leaves about half-inch long.
Elevation: 1800 - 8000 Feet.
Habitat: Desert Washes, Streams, Woodlands.
