Erioneuron pulchellum, Grass Family ( Poaceae ), Fluffgrass. Also called .

A perennial grass that grows up to 6" tall. The leaves are short, rough and sharp-pointed.

After the Monsoon rains in the summer this plants leaves produce a white sugar or starch fluffy substance on the leaves. It easilly disolves in water. It is not a leaf hair.

Height: Height normally about 2 - 6 inches tall. Will also spread to about 4 - 8 inches.
Flowers: Purple - gray flower panicles.
Blooming Time: February to May.
Leaves: Short, rough and sharp-pointed. Leaf-blades aciculate; involute; 1/16 inch wide. The panicle usually does not exceed the length of the leaves and contains 1-5 nearly sessile large woolly spikelets. The glumes are awned.
Elevation: 2,500 -7,500 Feet.
Habitat: Native of the dry prairies and rocky slopes in creosote bush scrub, joshua tree woodlands. California and Nevada to western Texas and south to Mexico City.
