Wild Cucumber
Marah gilensis, Goard Family ( Cucurbitaceae ) , Cucumber. Also called Gila Manroot.

A perennial vine, the star-shaped flowers are about 3/8 inches wide and are followed by round, spiny, green goards about 2 inches in diameter. This plant has a very large underground tuber.

Height: About 3 - 8 feet. Spreading out to about 10 foot wide.
Flowers: The white to green - white star-shaped flowers are about 3/8 inches in diameter.
Blooming Time: March to April.
Leaves: The leaves are trifoliate, alternate, elongated, and end in a tiny hair-like point.
Shape: The vine is between 3'-8' tall and about 10 feet wide.
Elevation: 0 - 5000 Feet.
Habitat: On sandy and gravely sides of stream beds.
