The Jolie Ville Mövenpick Luxor Resort or Sharm El Sheikh, has changed it name to Maritim Jolie Ville Luxor Resort since our stay during December 29-30, 2,000.
But, according to the reviews since the name change, it still is a very good place to stay. So, we still recommend it to anyone staying in Cairo, Egypt!
Maritim Jolie Ville Luxor Resort is located on Kings Island on the river Nile, 4 km from the city center, with free shuttle bus/boat service to downtown.
Luxor International Airport is 14 km (10 - 20 minutes) away. The hotel has 332 bungalow-style rooms with terrace (including 4 suites), 4 restaurants, 2 bars, swimming pool, 4 floodlit tennis courts plus resident pro, football, volleyball, table tennis, horseback riding, bicycles, jogging track and banquet/seminar rooms for up to 200 persons, with catering up to 2000 people.
It is a real sunny paradise set amongst palm trees in a lush plantation. Different herbs, flowers, and trees surround each bungalow.
We arrived in the evening and it was really nice to check in and have some dinner and then sleep.
Breakfast in the morning as we enjoyed the breathtaking view of the eternal Nile, and the West bank. Then we were on our way!
The Cairo International Airport (IATA: CAI, ICAO: HECA) is the busiest airport in Egypt and is located to the north-east of the city around 15 km from the business area of the city.
Cairo International is the second busiest airport in Africa with over 65 airlines using the Cairo airport (including charter airlines) and 9 cargo airlines. In 2008, the airport served 14,360,175 passengers and it is one of the top 100 airports in the world.
The airport handles both domestic and international flights, and is open 24 hours a day.
We suggest flying into Cairo and staying in one of their many fine hotels when touring Cairo and the ruins in the surrounding areas.

A second option is to fly directly to Aswan.

A third option is to fly directly to Luxor.

Many charter airlines use the airport, as it is a popular tourist destination for those visiting the River Nile and the Valley of the Kings.
After getting a flight and a hotel we suggest asking your hotel concierge to arrange either a car or a tour of Luxor, Aswan, or the Cairo area. If you call their Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you.
We do this when traveling in Egypt. It is safe and it works!!! We have never experienced a problem, doing it this way!
