Comalcalco Museum, Tabasco, Mexico: This is a very nice, small museum, that is well worth the visit to see some examples of the kiln - fired bricks of Comalcalco. Remember, this is the only known ruins in Mesoamerica where kiln - fired bricks are used. Suggesting that these people have connections with Mesopotamia or Ancient Rome. Flash photography is not permitted in the museum. Since there are wide open windows in the museum, a lot of outside light comes into the museum, causing a lot of reflections on the display cases. Therefore, the light conditions were not too favorible for taking photos. We were most impressed by the markings on the bricks and the ceramic water pipe on display in the museum. There were also several ceramic masks on display that definitely appeared to look Mesopotamian in facial appearance. See below photos.

We suggest getting a hotel in Villahermosa and then letting them arrange either a car or a tour of Comalcalco. You will need a full day for that tour. If you call the hotels Concierge Services ahead of your arrival, all of this can be pre-arranged for you. We do this all the time, when traveling in Mexico. It is safe and it works!!!
