Libertador Colca Lodge
Libertador Colca Lodge

This page contains information about the Libertador Colca Lodge which we CAN NOT recommend.

While this Lodge is very highly recommended by other sources, we found the rooms very cold and without hot water for bathing. The service was terrible at the front desk and the food service was very poor. We definitely would never go to this Lodge ever again.
WE WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. However, we stayed at several other hotels owned by the same company that owns the Colca Lodge and they were all very nice.
Yes, they do have a hot spring, but you will almost freeze going and coming from the spring.
Other people on our tour went to other hostels and hotels in the nearby area and they reported very nice experiences at those places.
The best part of our stay at Libertador Colca Lodge was when we could leave the place and get on with our trip.

One good thing we can say, is that the lodge is very pretty and the scenery is very nice.

Their Advertising Says:

"The Colca Lodge is located 170 Km north from Arequipa City in the middle of the Colca Valley, at 3,250 meters above sea level. This is a fascinating zone which forms a part of the Volcanic Mountain Range of the Occidental Andes of the South of Peru. At night, it is also ideal for observing the impressive star filled sky of the southern hemisphere.
The lodge features personalized service and relaxed atmosphere. All rooms have private bathroom, heating, hot water (with solar heating systems) and an outdoor terrace with beautiful views.
The lodge does not have television, telephones, and other modern distractions. They include a buffet breakfast. They provide restaurant services for lunch and dinner. The Colca Lodge has a spacious living room with a fireplace, a charming bar and a game room (attic) with an assortment of table games for your amusement.
They have a main terrace, with a spectacular view to the Colca Valley. In the hotel’s surroundings one can take pleasant walks or take short horseback tours.
The lodge has a very nice hot springs where you can relax in the warm waters. It is closed during the rainy season of February through March due to the heavy flow of the river nearby which pours water into the spring area.

This page is for information purposes only and while we have made every effort to be accurate, it is the travelers responsibility to make the appropriate choice as to which hotels to use in Peru. We receive nothing for our hotel recommendations or information. We simply are providing this information for your convenience. Since hotel conditions can quickly change, we can assume no responsibility for your selection of hotels in Peru. If you notice a change, we would appreciate hearing from you so that we can make a note of the change.

It is advisable to book reservations ahead of time, as hotels, especially in high season, are quickly booked up.

We would recommend using a travel agency to do this for you. That way, there should be no confusion or difficulty.

We were here April 23 and April 24 of 2006.
