Desert Chicory
Rafinesquia neomexicana, Sunflower Family ( Compositae ), Desert Chicory.

An annual, dicot, herb; Desert Chicory usually grows within other plants to support it's long, weakened stems.

Height: Height to about 20 inches.
Flowers: The ray flowers are white with the undersides of the petals striped violet. The flowerhead is about 1 1/2 inches wide. The flower stems are branching hollow stems.
Blooming Time: February - May.
Leaves: Simple, deeply lobed, dark green, and up to about 6 inches long at the base of the plant and shorter toward the top.
Elevation: 200 - 4500 Feet.
Habitat: Deserts, mesas and along roadsides.
