Chaparral Sage
Salvia clevelandii, Lamiaceae Family: ( Lamiaceae ) , Chaparral Sage. Also called: Cleveland Sage, Blue Sage.

An evergreen medium size shrub. It can be used as a xeriscape plant in hot, dry areas. It is good for hummingbird and butterfly gardens

Chaparral Sage is especially well adapted to hot, desert-like areas. It has a long period of bloom.

Chaparral Sage needs some shade in the summer afternoon.

Height: 48 inches tall, spread to 6 feet.
Flowers: Clusters of blue-violet flowers.
Blooming Time: May - June.
Leaves: Leaves are soft gray-green and aromatic. They are linear to lancelate; up to 1 1/4 inch long; serrate; their tops are green or silver, the underside lighter.
Found: Native of Southern California chaparral region and Baja California.
Elevation: 0 - 2,500 Feet.
Habitat: Desert soil, rock, does well in loose soil on slopes.
