Bahia
Bahia absinthifolia, Aster or Sunflower Family ( Asteraceae ) also known as the Composite Family: ( Compositae ), Bahia: Also Called; Desert Bahia, Silverleaf Bahia, Hairyleaf Bahia.
A mound forming, herbaceous, perennial, from 10 to 16 inches tall, and with about 12 inches spread.Bahia has simple silvery, hairy leaves, usually 3-lobed, up to about 2 1/2 inches long and underground rhizomes.
Desert Bahia has orange - yellow, daisy-like flowers with Orange-yellow disks and yellow rays. The flowers are from 1 to 1 1/2 inches wide.
Height: About 16 inches tall and 16 inches wide.
Flowers: Up to 1 1/2 inch, golden-yellow flower heads appear at the ends of branches.
Blooming Time: May - July and from August - November.
Leaves: Silvery, gray-green foliage; the simple leaves are divided into 3 lanceolate lobes with a few smaller teeth.
Found: Southeastern Arizona, southern New Mexico, west and south Texas, Sonora and Chihuahua southeast to Jalisco and Guanajuato, Mexico.
Elevation: 2,500 to 5,500 Feet Naturally. Grows from 0 - 5,500 feet when cultivated.
Habitat: Sandy desert soils to 5,500'. Southeastern Arizona, southern New Mexico, west and south Texas, Sonora and Chihuahua southeast to Jalisco and Guanajuato, Mexico.
