Symphyotrichum falcatum var. commutatum, Aster or Sunflower Family also known as the Composite Family: ( Compositae ), White Aster: Also called White Prairie Aster, White Heath Aster, Rough White Panicled Aster, Aster commutatus, Aster cordineri, Aster ericoides var. commutatus, Aster falcatus var. commutatus.

White Aster (Symphyotrichum falcatum var. commutatum) is generally described as a Perennial Forb, Herb, or Dicot that is native to the United States.

This variety tends to have decumbent or ascending stems usually branched proximally, heads in racemiform or diffuse paniculiform arrays, rarely secund, usually with 40 – 50 florets (Jones).

Height: Up To 36 inches tall.
Flowers: The flower head is 1/3"-2/3" wide with white rays; inflorescence of 1 to a few heads clustered at end of stems.
Blooming Time: August – October.
Leaves: Linear, stalkless, less than 1/4" long.
Found: United States, Mexico (Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sonora).
Elevation: 2,500 - 7,000 Feet.
Habitat: Dry, open sandy or gravelly sites, stream banks, and rocky, eroded hillsides.
