Arizona Foldwing
Dicliptera resupinata, Acanthus Family ( Acanthaceae ), Arizona Foldwing. Also called: Dicliptera.
Dicliptera resupinata is a perennial subshrub, up to about 2 feet tall and about 4 feet in spread.
Height: A spreading green herb, up to about 24 inches high and 36 inches spread.
Flowers: The 3/4 inch pinkish violet flowers with a small purple-spotted white patch on the upper lip and a larger, solid-colored lower lip.
Blooming Time: April - October. I will bloom in the shade.
Leaves: Lanceolate bright green leaves, 2 inches long
Found: Arizona, New Mexico, and into northwestern Mexico (Jalisco, Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango).
Elevation: Naturally found at 3200 - 5000 Feet.
Habitat: Slopes, mesas, and disturbed rocky soil.
